Weald Way Stage 1. Sat. 15 June 2013. Gravesend Pier to Sole Street – 10 1/2 miles.

Today there are a number of travel options:-

1)       If wishing to car share, meet at Junction 8 of M25 at 0915 hrs. Discuss with leader in advance the exact meeting point. Please share costs with driver. Then drive to Sole Street Station in time for bus 416.

2)       Make your own way to Sole Street Station (Explorer Map 163 / Landranger 177 Grid Ref. 655676 ensuring that you arrive in good time to pick up bus 416 to Gravesend. This should depart at 1100 hrs. & is operated by bus company “Nu-Venture”. But check current timetable with leader. If late note that the next bus is at 1520 hrs.!  It should be possible to park in side streets.

3)       Rail travellers have choices.  Either buy a return to Sole Street to pick up bus 416 as above to the start.  OR take train to Gravesend in time to meet the group at the pier (probably about 1130 hrs.) & then return from Sole Street Station or Meopham Station (note that Meopham Station is actually at Hook Green & not Meopham!)

As there is no pub stop today an early lunch / brunch / coffee stop will be taken in Gravesend.  Probably a good idea to carry lunch / snacks with you for later use.  It may be possible to purchase in Gravesend as we walk through.

Thames Path Stage 6. Sat. 29 June 2013.Vauxhall Bridge to Barnes Bridge (South Bank) 7 3/4 miles.

Here are the travel arrangements for this stage.

Either - meet at Oxshott Station at 0915 hrs. where the leader will hand out half price “groupsave4” tickets – these will probably be purchased in advance so contact the leader if wishing to join in.  We will take the 0931 hrs. train which arrives at Vauxhall  1002 hrs.

Or - make your own way to meet the group in the tunnel under the platforms at Vauxhall Station at 1010 hrs. near the pasty shop.

As we will return from Barnes Bridge Station via Clapham Junction a travelcard will not be necessary for those travelling up on Southwesttrains. Buy your out ticket to Vauxhall & your return from Barnes Bridge. This should prove cheaper than a travelcard for those commencing their journey outside of Zone 6 but you are recommended to check with the ticket office.  If commencing inside Zone 6 then buy a travelcard or use Oyster.
